FLIR MCS pan-tilt units include an integrated microcontroller providing real-time application communications, motor drive control and feedback processing, payload I/O and diagnostics. The E-Series pan-tilt units incorporate a 32-bit microcontroller with expanded capabilities and greatly improved performance in several dimensions. The E-Series control electronics includes:

• Integrated Ethernet • Higher voltage and current motor drive system • Expanded I/O for payload applications • Integrated digital encoder feedback interface • High-speed serial expansion interface • Increased processing power

New Features

E-Series pan-tilt units build on the new microcontroller core to provide several new application features and capabilities including:

• Higher torque to handle more demanding payloads • Higher accelerations and top speeds • Higher command rates, lower latency and jitter • Web Interface for configuration, control and diagnostics • IP-based command interface • Expanded Payload I/O (serial, digital) • Programmable ranges of motion • Integrated digital encoder for more robust positioning • Reduced calibration movement • Improved power protection circuitry • 32-pin Base Connector for simplified wiring

Future firmware updates to the E-Series pan-tilt models will allow integrated GPM and ISM functionality (no external hardware).

E-Series is available for: PTU-D48, PTU-D100, PTU-D300 models.

Compatibility with current pan-tilt models:

The E-Series models include a larger base and taller height and a new 32-pin base connector and pin out. PL01/PL02 wiring pin outs for the payload connector are preserved. The existing ASCII and binary command interfaces for the DP command set are fully supported for E-Series units (with higher command rates; and new semantics for user-programmed motion limits). FLIR MCS has taken great care to ensure a smooth a simple path for existing OEM customers to migrate to the E-Series units. The following facilitate migration and integration to E-Series pan-tilt models:

• Same application command interface (ASCII and binary)
• Larger base connector (32-pin) providing universal base wiring configuration
     – Adapter cable 19-32 pin available to support migration
     – 32-pin breakout cable available
• Dimensions – taller, larger base
     – Same mounting pattern
• Same payload connector/pin outs (PL01, PL02)
• Overlapped availability of E-Series and current models
